How to Play

Main Objective

Create an opening in the monster and dump all ammo at once using Full Burst.

Basic Flow

To execute the main strategy, follow this sequence of actions: Lance attacks to position yourself → Overhead Smash (vertical strike) → Full Burst to fire all projectiles → Continue the combo with Wide Sweep and explosive strikes. Then, simply reload and repeat when another opening arises.

Playstyle

Normal Shelling rewards a more aggressive style, focused on explosive damage during knockdowns and staggers. It is less focused on individual shots and more focused on full combo sequences.

To understand the difference between styles:

• Wide: poke + shell
• Long: charged shells and Wyrmstake
• Normal: Full Burst and chain explosions

What to do during the hunt

When the monster is active and aggressive: Block attacks with your guard, use side-hops and repositioning, and look for small openings for quick strikes.

When the monster falls, gets stunned, or trapped: Go into your full combo, prioritize Full Burst, and use Wyrmstake and Wyvern's Fire during the largest damage windows.

Quick Summary

If you chose Normal Gunlance, think of it as a weapon of "burst damage in large windows."

You spend part of the fight defending and positioning, and when an opening arises, you execute your Full Burst combos to dump all ammo and deal as much damage as possible. It is currently the style most associated with explosive bursts and long combos for the Gunlance in Wilds.
